Gail Minault – Mighty Alto and Board Historian

I am a member of Symphonic Choir

Number of years with choir – 16

Why did you decide to join Chorus Austin or why is it important to you? Having sung in choirs and glee clubs through high school, college, and grad school, and then after a long hiatus, I wanted to make music again. As for why it is important: I think that if one is musical, it is important, indeed imperative, to have music in one’s life.

Describe Chorus Austin in three words
Exhilarating, inspiring, fun

What has been your most memorable Chorus Austin experience? That’s a tough one: The trip to China,  Verdi’s Requiem, Beethoven’s 9th and the Choral Fantasy to open our 50th season. It is difficult to choose.

What is your favorite choral work? That’s also a tough one, but Bach’s B-Minor Mass is way up there.

What is something most people don’t know about you? I have been the mother of two children, a son, who died when he was two, and a daughter, whom I adopted in India when she was four. She is now forty, and the mother of my grandson, who is almost seven.
